Sotheby's Set to Offer Rare Diamonds, Colored Stones in Nov.

RAPAPORT... Sotheby's Geneva will hold its magnificent jewels and noble jewels sale on November 12. The collection includes important jewels from the collection of Dimitri Mavrommatis, as well as a selection of historic jewels with noble provenance, diamonds, colored diamonds and colored gemstones.
 The top lot from the noble jewels collection is a natural pearl necklace (pictured), formerly from the collection of Joséphine de Beauharnais, Queen of Sweden and Norway. The necklace, accompanied by an oil portrait of the queen wearing the piece is expected to fetch a price between $800,000 to $1.4 million.
The sale also features the English Rose diamond pendant, once the property of Queen Victoria. The pendant formed in the shape of a rose and set in the center with a pear-shaped diamond, with a surround of cushion-shaped, single and rose-cut diamonds has a presale estimate of up to $73,000.
Other top lots include a 55.19-carat, fancy yellow diamond pendant by Gübelin expected to fetch up to $2 million and a pair of perfectly matched D, flawless excellent polish, excellent symmetry, type IIa diamonds weighing 20.05-carat and 20.06-carat, cut from a 162.02-carat rough diamond. The pair of diamonds has a presale estimate of between $6.3 million to $8.3 million.
Top colored gemstone lots include a 53.53-carat oval sapphire from Ceylon expected to garner up to $450,000 and a 14.45-carat Burmese ruby, mounted as ring with demi-lune and brilliant-cut diamonds with a presale estimate of between $2 million and $4 million.
The sale will also include a vintage collection of art deco jewels, objects and clocks by Cartier as well as bracelet watches by Bulgari.
The jewels will be on show between November 8 and 12 in Geneva.
