Jewel Thief Doris Payne Allegedly Strikes Again

RAPAPORT... Notorious 84-year-old jewel thief Doris Payne is apparently on the run after she allegedly robbed a David Yurman store in Charlotte, North Carolina almost two weeks ago.
Payne was spotted by an employee at a nearby Tiffany & Co. store, according to a report by People magazine. However, she allegedly managed to steal a platinum-with-diamond halo ring from the David Yurman store before an alert to area jewelers was sent.
Payne was the subject of a documentary film “The Life and Crimes of Doris Payne.” Hollywood filmmakers had previously considered making a full-length feature film about her life and exploits, with actress Halle Berry in the lead role. However, the movie purportedly became stuck in development.
Payne was last arrested in September 2014, after allegedly stealing a diamond ring from a shop in Riverside County, California.
