RAPAPORT... ALROSA’s shareholders will nominate Sberbank senior vice president Sergey Ivanov as president of the mining company, according to Russian press agency TASS.

The report cited Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Yury Trutnev as naming Ivanov (pictured) when asked on the sidelines of the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi who would be nominated to take over from the departing Andrey Zharkov.

Zharkov has written his resignation letter, and the decision over his successor will be made at the next supervisory-board meeting, TASS cited Trutnev as saying.

Under the rough-diamond producer’s procedures, shareholders put forward a name for president, and the board approves the nomination and makes the hire.

Ivanov – whose father formerly headed the Kremlin administration – is also the erstwhile head of insurer SOGAZ.
