RAPAPORT... The Diamond Producers Association (DPA) has hired former L’Oréal executive Richa Singh as its managing director for India.

Singh (pictured), who assumed the role last month, will lead the organization’s efforts to raise consumer demand in India — considered the fourth largest market for diamond jewelry, according to the De Beers Diamond Insight Report.

She becomes the DPA’s first staff member in the country, with the association planning to build a team of four to five members there, it added.

“Richa will bring to the DPA an in-depth understanding of Indian women, of millennial marketing and of modern communication channels, including digital,” the DPA said in a statement to Rapaport News earlier this week.

Singh has close to 19 years’ experience in marketing consumer goods, including four years in advertising. She had been general manager at beauty brand L’Oréal Luxe since 2013, according to her LinkedIn profile.
