RAPAPORT... The Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A) is seeking a chief executive officer to “spearhead” growth of the U.K. teaching institute.

The successful applicant will have proven management skills and a high level of experience in gemology or a closely related field, the organization said in a statement February 4. The executive will oversee the day-to-day running of the organization, the development and provision of education, the management of the membership and media departments, and work closely with the elected board to develop and deliver a strategic plan, the statement continued.

Other responsibilities will include ensuring all of Gem-A’s legal, financial, and other governance requirements are met and representing the association internationally at conferences, industry trade shows and on organizations and committees.

The current interim CEO, Nick Jones, was hired by the Gem-A Council in October 2015 to steer Gem-A through the fourth quarter and to guide the recruitment process for a permanent CEO.
