RAPAPORT... The Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) has postponed its fourth International Diamond Week due to logistical difficulties caused by the ongoing conflict with Gaza.

The polished diamond trading event was supposed to have taken place next week between Monday, September 1 and Thursday, September 5, but will now be rescheduled. Rapaport News confirmed the event's postponement with multiple industry sources.

"The diamond week has been postponed for both security and insurance reasons," said Ya'akov Kattan, the vice president of the exchange.

The resumption of Hamas rocket launches on Israeli territory was not considered a significant threat to visiting or local diamond traders. However, Kattan said, the adjustments that would have been made for security and insurance purposes would have impeded vigorous trading on the bourse floor.

"In light of the current situation, the IDE's board has decided to postpone the International Diamond Week," Yaakov Almor, IDE's spokesman, told Rapaport News. "All buyers and other involved parties have been duly informed and the board is currently considering alternative dates for the event."
