RAPAPORT... The Huawei Consumer Business Group and Guess Watches both debuted smartwatches at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona, Spain. Huawei unveiled the Huawei Watch, powered by Android Wear™, featuring a fully circular timepiece with a 1.4-inch touch-sensitive AMOLED display, scratch-proof sapphire crystal lens, cold-forged stainless steel frame, a built-in heart rate monitor and 6-Axis motion sensors. The Huawei Watch is the first smartwatch in the Huawei wearable family.  "We have responded to consumers' requests from around the world asking for a smartwatch featuring a timeless design that is truly smart from within. Through Huawei's continued commitment to 'Make It Possible,' the Huawei Watch delivers on that promise and gives the consumer a premium smartwatch that is technologically innovative," said Richard Yu, the CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group. "As the first smartwatch in our expanding line of premium wearable products, the Huawei Watch was designed and created to enhance and be part of the consumer's everyday lives." The Huawei Watch's AMOLED display boasts 400 x 400 pixels resolution in 286 ppi at a 10,000:1 high-contrast ratio. The piece is made of more than 130 components and comes in three colors: gold, silver and black. Powered by Android Wear, receiving SMS, email, calendar, app and phone call notifications are all possible. Compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 or higher, Huawei Watch has a Qualcomm 1.2GHz processor for optimal performance, includes 4GB of storage, 512MB of RAM and Bluetooth 4.1. Huawei Watch features a heart rate monitor sensor, 6-Axis motion sensor and barometer sensor that automatically detects and tracks if a user is walking, running, biking, hiking or sleeping. Specifically, users can monitor everything from the number of calories burned, to heart rate, climbing height, steps taken and distance traveled. GUESS partnered with Martian Watches, a California-based developer of  fashionable smartwatches, to deliver a multi-function, fashion chic smartwatch line, designed for men and women. Fashioned after its style called RIGOR, this boldly styled smartwatch is powered by Martian technology that is updateable and replaceable. Distinguished earlier this year as a CES 2015 Innovation Award Honoree, the new GUESS CONNECT watches Powered by Martian, made their debut in Europe at Mobile World Congress. The GUESS CONNECT smartwatches incorporate Martian's Dual Mode functionality -- simultaneously offering voice command functions (via Classic Bluetooth), while utilizing Bluetooth LE to provide hands-free and eyes-free notifications to the wrist. By housing a fully-contained Martian module that sports a microphone and audio speaker, the GUESS CONNECT allows users to connect to their smartphone's resident voice command app, so wearers can give voice commands, talk and listen, and respond to texts and emails directly from the watch. In addition, using the free iOS & Android App, users can customize which notifications are received on the watch, create unique vibration patterns to distinguish between alert types and recall the most recent notifications with a tap of the watch glass.
