Press Release: GECI, the leading gemological institute for certification, education and research is proud to announce its participation as a Gold Sponsor at the upcoming 2015 annual congress of CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation, which will take place in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, from May 4 to 6.

The CIBJO Congress will gather members of the jewelry  and gemstone associations from more than 40 countries, along with representatives of many of the industry’s most important commercial bodies. The president of CIBJO, Gaetano Cavalieri, was quoted as saying,  “During this year's congress, the members will be asked to reflect and devote some constructive time to the gemological issues related to nomenclature and identification and, in particular, how these have contributed to alleged inconsistencies in the results reported by different laboratories.”

This theme is key to the gemological and ethical mission of GECI laboratory activities, hence the sponsoring.

In support of the international community, GECI is about to launch the new educational calendar for 2015/2016 academic year, which will have as a great new entry the Master in Gem & Jewelry Management. The course provides both technical and managerial skills in gemology, history, design and marketing with the aim to prepare future protagonists of the jewelry industry who want to pursue an international career. For this reason, the course will be delivered in English, the worldwide language of the sector, and it will take place in GECI headquarters in Milan, Italy, the dynamic capital of design and the city hosting the 2015 EXPO.

Alberto Osimo, the president of GECI, said,  “I’m very proud of adding a new educational path at the GECI proposals. I strongly believe in a comprehensive and multifaceted education program that answers to the complexity of our trade today. Innovation is a key driver at GECI and as such we support our mission to anticipate our future consumers’ needs and expectations.”

GECI was created in order to spread gemological knowledge with its cutting-edge laboratory and training, a focus on research, international standards and advanced technologies. GECI didactic system provides a modern education that meets the demands of the international market, offering its students a continuous growth and high levels of professionalism. The educational philosophy of GECI is born from the experience of its instructors and it is enriched daily by laboratory research. The educational programs are developed based on the latest innovations in the didactic field and the gemological research, and are supported by innovative technologies.

The GECI laboratory was launched with the aim of offering complete reliability and professionalism in the field of identification and grading of diamonds, colored gemstones and pearls. The GECI laboratory is an independent and impartial entity and so are the evaluations expressed in the reports; evaluations made strictly in line with the global gemological standards (International Diamond Grading System®) and in compliance with national and international regulations.

Every GECI report, or statement on the identity and quality of a gemstone, is written in English and includes identification and safety codes, which make it unique and impossible to imitate. GECI has also become the fully equipped European alternative to support your needs for the identification of any size and shape of synthetic diamonds.
