Press Release: The full range of colored gemstone laboratory reports and services supplied by the Bangkok's internationally renowned and respected Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences (AIGS) can now by obtained directly in Hong Kong, following an agreement reached between AIGS and Diamond Services Ltd.

According to the agreement, Hong Kong-based Diamond Services will operate a drop-off window on AIGS's behalf at its headquarters, where members of the trade operating in Hong Kong can submit both loose and jewelry-mounted colored gemstones to AIGS for testing, analysis and grading. The service will begin operating this month and the turnaround time for submitted gemstones and jewelry will be five to seven business days.

Founded in 1978 in Bangkok, the world's leading colored gemstone manufacturing and trading center, AIGS grew to include southeast Asia's first gemological training institute and a leading gem laboratory, which was the first such body internationally to introduce Raman spectrophotometer technology for its gemstone reports, becoming a role model other gem labs worldwide. It offers a range of colored gemstone reports, including credit-card-size brief reports, full and premium gem identification reports and master gemstone reports, which not only identify gemstones but also indicate quality. Other colored gemstone services include amethyst-citrine natural/synthetic testing and jadeite impregnation testing.

Diamond Services was established in 2012 in Hong Kong as a developer and provider of gemological services and technology. The company first introduced the DiamaPen®, a hand-held laser device that is able to detect fancy color synthetic diamonds, and in 2014, it introduced DiamaTest®, an innovative system that screens both loose and colorless diamonds for synthetics, for which it won the prestigious JNA 2014 Award.

"This is a most important milestone from our perspective," said Kennedy Ho, AIGS's CEO. "Hong Kong serves as a primary gateway into the world's fastest-growing market for colored gemstones and the provision of quality gemological services is absolutely critical to its development. We are most fortunate to have found an expert in this venture with Diamond Services."

Joseph Kuzi, the founder of Diamond Services, said, "We are delighted to be joining forces with AIGS. There are few colored gemstone organizations with its wealth of knowledge, experience and integrity and we are privileged to be able to extend that to Hong Kong, China and beyond."

The director of the AIGS Laboratory is Dr. Dietmar Schwarz, a leading colored gemstone authority who prior to taking up his position in Bangkok, served as head of research at the  Gübelin Laboratory in Switzerland and as a lecturer at the University of Ouro Preto in Minas Gerais, Brazil. He has published two books about gemstones, "Esmeralda" in 1987 and "Geographic Origin Determination of Coloured Gemstones" in 2012, which was co-authored in Chinese.
