Press Release: Gemesis – the world’s principal distributor of gem-quality lab-grown diamonds – today announced the winners of its recent jewelry design competition held in partnership with the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). FIT jewelry design students were challenged to create “stylishly sustainable” engagement rings featuring Gemesis' own lab-grown diamonds. Final designs were evaluated by a panel of industry judges on the basis of originality, effectiveness of design and thematic interpretation. The judging panel, which included Leading Jewelers Guild Inc.'s merchandise manager, Stella Cimmarrusti, and Gemesis management, selected the first- and second-place winning designs. Gemesis also hosted a consumer voting component via its Facebook page, where fans voted for their favorite concept. Final results are as follows: · First Place (pictured), Akanksha Gore: $2,000 Gemesis award; winning design to be featured and potentially produced and sold on Gemesis.com · Second Place, So Hyun Ahn: $1,500 Gemesis award · Fan Favorite, Akanksha Gore: $1,000 Gemesis award Gemesis added that its management was very impressed by the creativity and thoughtful interpretation of the stylishly sustainable theme and had been overwhelmed by the students’ talent and applaud all who submitted and, in particular, the selected designers. “This competition has been a valuable hands-on learning experience for our students,” said FIT Jewelry Design chair Michael Coan. “The work they have done with Gemesis will serve them well as they continue their education and progress into the jewelry design industry.” About Gemesis
