RAPAPORT... Lucara Diamond Corp. achieved $46.4 million from its third exceptional stone tender, which closed on October 21. The company sold 14 diamonds for an average price of $30,129 per carat, with 12 of the 14 lots offered achieving over $1 million and six diamonds fetching over $4 million.

The highest value diamonds sold during the tender included a 203-carat diamond that sold for $8.2 million, a 239-carat stone achieved $7.2 million and a 141-carat diamond  fetched $6.1 million.

This exceptional tender series was the final one of the year. In 2014, Lucara sold a total of 50 diamonds through its tenders for $136.5 million, or an average price of $32,468 per carat. Lucara noted that 40 of the 50 diamonds sold  achieved over $1 million, including eight diamonds that sold for over $8 million.

William Lamb, the CEO of Lucara, noted that the company's sales reflected the continued robustness and strong demand for large diamonds that have all been recovered from the Karowe mine in Botswana.

Lucara will report its third quarter results in November.
