Bonhams Reports Robust Prices at Hong Kong Jewelry Auction

RAPAPORT... Bonhams Hong Kong concluded its fine jewelry and jadeite auction with numerous lots selling for above presale estimates. 

The top lot was a special "Flawless Collection of Hearts and Arrows Diamonds," comprised of  16, D, flawless, internally flawless, brilliant-cut diamonds of 39.98 total carat weight that achieved $2.62 million (HKD 20,280,000).

In addition, a collection of jewelry designed by Marina B was  well received and achieved nearly $1.3 million. Other highlights included a jade bangle that sold for  $840,000 (HKD 6,520,000) or six times its presale estimate and a two-strand jadeite bead necklace that sold for $671,000 (HKD 5,200,000) against a high presale estimate of just $58,000.
                                                                                      
“We are delighted with the result and it is testament to the strength of the Asian market for rare items, such the Flawless Collection of Hearts and Arrows Diamonds and the Marina B jewels. The sale also excelled in the jadeite and gemstone categories,” said Graeme Thompson, the director of jewelry at Bonhams Asia. “We look forward to bringing more rare, collectable and exclusive gems and jewels to the Asian markets next year.”
