Roster of Multi-Million Dollar Diamonds For Sale at Sotheby's Geneva Auction

RAPAPORT... Sotheby’s unveiled highlights of its upcoming auction in Geneva that will feature more than 10 diamonds and gemstones estimated at $1 million or higher.

Headlining the May 17 Magnificent Jewels & Noble Jewels sale is the ‘Unique Pink,’ expected to fetch up to $38 million (CHF 36.5 million). In addition, a pear-shaped, 7.32-carat, fancy vivid blue, internally flawless diamond ring will go under the hammer for an estimated $15 million to $25 million. The “exquisite” stone has been awarded the highest possible color grade by the Gemological Institute of America, Sotheby’s said.

Other notable gems on offer include a marquise, 6.64-carat, fancy intense blue, surrounded by other fancy intense blue and D-color white diamonds, expected to sell for $10 million to $14 million.

A “dazzling” 7.03-carat Burmese ruby and diamond ring, dubbed the ‘Emperor Ruby,’ is estimated at $5 million to $8 million. Sotheby’s will also auction another ruby expected to fetch up to $5 million and two sapphires with estimates of up to $1.25 million and $1.2 million.
