RAPAPORT... Rimini Fiera and Fiera di Vicenza have agreed to merge and named the executives set to lead the combined company.

The Italy-based trade-fair organizers approved the document that formally marks the beginning of their merger, according to a joint statement. Shareholders will be required to giving their consent to the deal by the end of the year.

While the name of the combined entity is yet to be disclosed, the companies confirmed that Lorenzo Cagnoni, president of Rimini Fiera, will become president and chief executive officer post-merger. Two members chosen by Fiera di Vicenza will sit on the board, one of whom will be Matteo Marzotto, Fiera di Vicenza’s president.

Rimini Fiera and Fiera di Vicenza announced in May they were discussing a merger with the aim of setting up a national trade-show organizer which would subsequently be listed on the stock market.

Fiera di Vicenza organizes the VicenzaOro jewelry show in January and September in Vicenza, Italy, and VicenzaOro Dubai every April.
