RAPAPORT... Forevermark has entered its 2,000th retail location
worldwide, less than a decade after the De Beers-owned diamond brand was born.
“Opening our 2,000th global retail door around eight years
after launching the brand is an amazing achievement,” said Stephen Lussier,
Forevermark’s chief executive officer. “We will continue to invest
significantly in the brand to support its fast growth.”
The 2,000th store is located in the city of Bursa, Turkey, De
Beers said on Friday.
Forevermark, which professes to offer only natural,
untreated and responsibly sourced diamonds, has expanded to 25 markets since
its launch in 2008, De Beers said. In 2016, the number of retail doors rose 14
percent, with Hungary, South Korea and Thailand joining the list of countries
where the brand is present. Inscriptions grew 21 percent.
“In 2017, we will inscribe our two millionth Forevermark
diamond, highlighting just how strong demand is for diamond jewelry that’s not
only beautiful and individual, but also responsibly sourced,” Lussier added. “Meanwhile,
we will also expand further through our licensee model in western Europe and
Asia in 2017, meaning that the Forevermark promise will reach even more
consumers around the world.”
Sales of Forevermark diamonds increased 6.4 percent during
the latest holiday season and rose 7.6 percent during the year, De Beers CEO
Bruce Cleaver said in a speech to jewelers last month.
