Press Release: LUXURY Privé's inaugural run at the Waldorf Astoria in New York came to a close this week after three successful days. The luxurious surrounds of the famed hotel's grand ballroom provided the perfect upscale ambiance and setting, attracting a record-breaking crowd of retail buyers. Attendance for the show was up a record 65 percent, driven by the addition of 25 new exhibitors, as well as a change in registration policy to now welcome all qualified retailers.

“The show has found a new home here at the Waldorf Astoria,” said Desiree Hanson, the event director of LUXURY Privé (a JCK Event). “The luxurious atmosphere, high standard of service and easier to shop show floor created a new level of energy, truly allowing for both our exhibitors and buyers to more easily conduct business, resulting in a very successful show for all involved.”

Exhibiting brands and attending retailers also commented on their positive experiences.  Lecil Henderson of the Henderson Collection by Lecil, said, "We were extremely pleased with LUXURY Privé.  We were literally busy for two solid days. The retailers came with very positive expectations for the Show and placed very nice orders."

Steve Mazza of the Mazza Company, said, “It was my first time exhibiting at LUXURY Privé and we were very happy with the incredible setting and the quality of business we did there. The event was very well run and has become an ideal destination for NYC Jewelry Week - we will be back again next year.”

Memoire's CEO, J. Douglas McDowell, said, “Memoire had a very successful three day experience at LUXURY Privé. We not only opened three new accounts and met with a number of prospective retailers who want us to follow up with them in their stores, we also closed a few HFC 's from Vegas and met with Memoire retailers who did not attend the JCK Las Vegas. Not a bad three days.”

Doug Sills of A. Link said, “The retailers just love the environment of LUXURY Privé. If they're happy, then I'm happy.  A. Link will be back at LUXURY Privé next year.”

Craig Rottenberg of Long's Jewelers, said, “The Long's team truly enjoyed the LUXURY Privé show this past weekend.  In fact, it was the best year by far. The venue was comfortably luxurious and the ballroom at the Waldorf had a great energy.  We were able to finalize key partnerships that we starting exploring in Las Vegas, plus we found some new vendors to fill in those last few holes in our holiday merchandising plan.  I am looking forward to next year.”

The show’s keynote address kicked off the event on Sunday morning, presented by Scott Lachut, of PSFK. The Future of Retail 2014 Report gave buyers insight into the ever-changing world of shopper behavior, driven by mobile and social media platforms. To celebrate a successful opening day, exhibitors and retailers were transported back to the 1970’s on Sunday evening for an American Hustle-themed welcome reception, complete with 70s-era music and cocktails. Guests donned their best period dress for the groovy affair.

Daily merchandise credit drawings also created a buzz on the show floor. Melva Grimaldo of Joyeria Muller from Costa Rica, Cindi Earl of Cindy Earl Fine Jewelry from Nashville, Tennessee and Chris Scoville of Scoville Jewelers from Glens Falls, New York were the lucky winners of the drawing. Earl said,  “This was such an unexpected, wonderful surprise. To be rewarded, for doing what we came here to do, based on an entry submitted by one of our brands, makes it even sweeter.”

A press and blogger preview, which included curated mini collections from 45 JCK exhibitors, also took place during the show, attracting journalists from media outlets from around the world. JCK’s first-ever blogger luncheon was held on Tuesday, hosting such notable bloggers as Gem Gossip, Idazzle, The Jewellery Editor, Diamonds in the Library and Champagne and Heels. “Being a blogger, first time at the show, I found my experience attending to be extremely worthwhile,” said,  Danielle Miele of Gem Gossip. “It was one of the few events where I feel bloggers were catered to with an ideal setting--with the private viewing area upstairs, I was able to try on, touch and feel...take as many pictures as I wanted...I was truly in my own element.“

LUXURY Privé 2015 will run July 26 to  28, 2015 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.
