Kiran Gems Participates in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

Press Release: Kiran Gems, the world's largest manufacturer of diamonds, successfully participated in the national initiative Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, through conducting a cleanliness drive at Juhu beach in Mumbai on December 20.

The company participated with over 900 employees, including the group's chairman, Vallabhbhai Patel, its managing director, Mavji Patel, directors Dinesh Lakhani, Rajesh Lakhani and Varun Lakhani along with over 90 additional industry patrons who supported the cause from outside the firm.

The event was scheduled from 8:15 a.m. until 11 a.m. The company conducted the cleaning activity in an organized fashion, with 47 employee groups covering the whole stretch of the beach. The groups were fitted with safety gear and other cleaning equipment. Following the event, the six best performing groups were given trophies for their performance. There were also 20 individual performances that were recognized. To give away prizes and motivate the teams, Ashish Shelar, from the Bandra Vidhan Sabha and president of Mumbai, and Alka Kerkar the mayor of Mumbai were present as the chief guests.

Shelar said, "This was wonderful that a private company like Kiran Gems is coming forward and taking part in the initiative with such huge numbers of employees and it is commendable."

Patel said, "This is our country and we should care for it. Through this we have learned two things:  1. we should practice cleanliness and 2. we should not litter. I appreciate every employees' effort today and congratulate them for such a great accomplishment."
