The Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) has opened a wing dedicated to internet marketing, with the aim of helping its members join e-commerce websites and sell more diamonds online.

The computer-equipped facility, located next to the trading floor, features 360-degree cameras that traders can use to photograph diamonds and upload them to online sales platforms. It also has staff on hand to instruct members on how to use the technology.

The launch comes alongside several IDE initiatives to get more Israeli dealers onto the web, including a partnership with online retailer James Allen and a business-to-business trading platform, Get Diamonds.

“We are making great efforts to provide new marketing channels to our members, and to encourage them to use the internet as a selling tool,” said IDE president Yoram Dvash. “I believe that this will give our industry a relative advantage. We need to look ahead, and this is the direction of the future.”
