RAPAPORT... Organizers of the Dubai International Jewellery Week, scheduled for December 3 to 6, stated that exhibitor participation is up 25 percent compared with 2013. The organizers expect to host more than 380 exhibitors and 800 brands from 30 countries, with 100 new firms planning to participate this year at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

Given strong jewelry demand in Dubai, Thailand has committed to occupying 42 percent more floor space at the show this year, while  the country pavilion from Lebanon increased its occupancy by 28 percent, Hong Kong by 18 percent and India by 16 percent.

"Our exciting exhibitor and brand line-up this year reflects Dubai International Jewellery Week's standing as a strategic entry point into the highly lucrative regional jewelry sector," said Trixie LohMirmand, the senior vice president of exhibitions and events management for DWTC. "Visitors will have the opportunity to buy some of the most beautiful, creative jewelry designs from around the world -- in both the super-luxury and affordable brackets."

In addition, the number of loose stone dealers and diamond jewelry manufacturers occupying  the Dazzling Avenue area will increase 42 percent, according to the organizers.  A hosted buyer program anticipates  more than 100 specialty buyers will attend from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, CIS countries, Turkey, Macedonia, Greece, KSA, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar.
