Designer Lines

Paris-based designer Alexandre Corrot has opened his first U.S. store, Djula, on Madison Avenue in New York City. Corrot has four stores in Paris — the first was opened in the Latin Quarter in 1994 — and he designs over 200 pieces in his atelier each year. His geometric, contemporary designs featuring diamonds are simple, wearable forms for the modern woman’s diverse lifestyle. Corrot’s designs, which are stylish yet classic, are inspired by the artists, fashion designers, painters and photographers who surround him. He is also influenced by the Art Deco period of the early-twentieth century. His fashion-oriented jewelry is a study in contrasts of strong geometric forms, delicate lacy patterns and intricate details.

Gemologist turned jewelry designer Elke Berr has launched her newest collection, “Might & Magic: Immersion in a precious and colored world.” Focusing on the wonders of colored gemstones, the Geneva, Switzerland–based Berr has created Might & Magic for the mysterious woman who is in harmony with her inner nature and who searches for a beautiful, enchanted world. Berr is from a family of gemologists and travels directly to mines to source the most powerful gems for her jewelry, which she then showcases in unique settings that bring out the beauty and color of the stones. Her talents have been recognized on a number of levels — as an ambassador for the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA), a judge for several jewelry competitions and in a French documentary “Pierre de Rêve,” which has been broadcast in French-speaking countries.
New York City–based Maya J has introduced Caring Cuffs, designed to remind us to take care of ourselves and others. Each stainless steel Caring Cuff has an uplifting or inspirational message engraved on its top. There are 50 messages from which to choose, ranging from sentiments such as “always kiss me goodnight” to “never give up.” A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each Caring Cuff is donated to the Gia Nicole Angel Foundation, which provides assistance to special needs children and their families.
