Press Release: Over the past decade, the legal battles have continued between OGI Systems and Sarine Technologies. The subject of the suit concerns a patent registered by Sarine on a diamond-marking laser after 3D scanning and mapping (in Israel, the proceedings are about a patent application).

OGI Systems is acting in accordance with statutory law to prove that the Sarine patent is not valid and, therefore, not enforceable.

Status of Trials Worldwide

Belgium

The Supreme Court of Belgium determined that the Court of Appeals could base its ruling on an objective report by a board of three experts appointed by the Court. The Board of Experts ruled that there was no inventive step in Sarine's device in relation to OGI's 3D marking device (among others) that was sold prior to Sarine's application for a patent. The opinion by the Board of Experts is that the patent should be revoked in Belgium.

In addition, OGI presented additional evidence to the court, that WTOCD (the technology branch of HRD Antwerp Lab) in Belgium developed and sold a 3D marking device to a Belgian company and also presented their product to the public in an exhibition. In both cases, this was prior to Sarine’s application for a patent.

This evidence indicates that Sarine patent is invalid and unenforceable.

Israel

The case is under appeal in the District Court.

India

In 2015, after a five-year stay, Sarine decided to resume their claim against OGI.

OGI believes that the opinion of the objective Board of Experts in Belgium will lead to similar decisions in Israel and India.

OGI will protect its rights around the world and will continue to act to uncover the truth and achieve justice.

OGI Systems Ltd. is a leading global company that develops innovative diamond technological solutions for 25 years.
