RAPAPORT... ALROSA plans to increase its diamond reserves by 50.4 million carats, its head geologist was reported as saying.

Growth will be guaranteed by exploration of the Zarya field and follow-up exploration at the Aikhal and Verkhne-Munsoye fields, Interfax cited Konstantin Garanin as saying in an interview with corporate publication Vestnik Alrosa.

ALROSA’s diamond reserves stood at 1.108 billion carats as of the beginning of 2016, according to Russian State classification standards, the miner said in February

Overall financing for geological exploration by ALROSA will total $97.8 million (RUB 6.37 billion) in 2016, the report said.

Since 1992, ALROSA has grown its diamond reserves by 377 million carats by discovering new deposits, Garanin said.
