De Beers Sets New Ad Program to Stoke Holiday Demand

RAPAPORT... De Beers will make what it described as “a major investment” in marketing to increase consumer demand in the U.S. and China during the year-end holiday season, according to a company announcement today.

The company didn’t specify the amount it would spend on the campaign that will run in addition to Forevermark’s “A Diamond is Forever” brand promotion. The announcement was made during the De Beers sight holder meeting begin held in Gaborone, Botswana.

The new campaign will target men purchasing diamond jewelry as gifts for partners during the holiday season.

Philippe Mellier, the company’s group chief executive, said the campaign “will help to stimulate downstream demand for polished diamonds and create renewed momentum in the diamond sector at a crucial point in the year.”
