RAPAPORT... TAG Heuer, known for its sports watches, has been named the official timekeeper and timepiece of the TCS New York City Marathon for the 2014 to 2016 seasons. The watch brand has been involved with competitive sports before, including partnerships with autoracing and sailing, but TAG Heuer North America's president and CEO, Ulrich Wohn, was especially excited about this new partnership.
"The TCS New York City Marathon perfectly embodies the TAG Heuer mindset of mental fortitude, perseverance and inner strength. Running 26.2 miles requires resilience and willpower, and TAG Heuer is thrilled to celebrate those personal achievements with these ambitious individuals," Wohn said. The three year commitment includes co-hosting the "Get Your New York On" challenge with the New York Road Runners, which will give 2014 TCS New York City Marathon runners the opportunity to submit their stories on why they are running in the event, and the public will be able to vote online for their favorite essays.
The final winners will be chosen by a panel of celebrity judges, including tennis superstar and TAG Heuer ambassador Maria Sharapova, and the winners will be publicly revealed in Times Square on November 1, where TAG Heuer will debut a billboard featuring the winners of the campaign. The champions of both the runner and wheelchair fields of the marathon will receive a timepiece from TAG Heuer.
