Jewelry Camp 2015 Takes Place July 30 & 31

Event Organizers to Honor Audrey Friedman

RAPAPORT... Audrey Friedman, the founder of Primavera Gallery, will be honored at the 38th annual Antique Jewelry & Art Conference – Jewelry Camp – that is scheduled for July 30 and 31 at the Westchester Renaissance Hotel in West Harrison, New York. The event is open to professionals, collectors and the public, and hosts two days of lectures, breakout groups and networking events. Participants have opportunities to meet and learn from top experts in buying, selling, appraising and collecting.  Registration is $625, which includes lunch as well as  snacks and beverages. 

Friedman is the second recipient of the “Women of Estate & Antique Jewelry” awarded to women who, through their passion and dedication, have expanded the public’s interest in antique and estate jewelry.  She and her husband and business partner, Hiam Manishevitz, have devoted over 40 years to seeking out fine and  interesting decorative objects, jewelry, furniture and paintings.

Edward Lewand, the director of Jewelry Camp, said, “Whether you are a dealer who has been involved in this area for years, or a jewelry store owner just branching into estate jewelry, there is no better place to learn about antique and estate jewelry than Jewelry Camp.”
 
Speakers at the 2015 Jewelry Camp include the following:

·         Donna Bilak, Ph.D. – jewelry and cultural history

·         Gary L. Smith -- master goldsmith

·         Audrey Friedman – Primavera Gallery

·         Sharon Berman – owner of Berbay Corporation

·         Julie Somers – owner of Somer’s Design

·         Sarah Churgin – Rago Auctions

·         George Blair – Native American jewelry historian

·         Jerrold Green – the president of Reginald C. Miller Inc.

·         Jacquelyn Babush -- the owner of Aesthetic Engineering Fine Jewels & Antiques 

In addition, Edward and Sandy Lewand invited interested parties to apply for the Romero-Weber Jewelry Camp Scholarship. Named for the late Christie Romero and Barry Weber, the scholarship honors the pair’s  longstanding contributions to the jewelry industry and provides the recipient with the cost of tuition for Jewelry Camp.

Each applicant must be a full-time student and author  a brief essay or email that explains why he or she should be selected to receive the award. All applications should be sent to jewelrycamp-at-live.com by May 30.  The award recipient will be announced on June 3. The scholarship covers Jewelry Camp tuition, while the costs of lodging, travel and food remain the responsibility of the recipient.
