Phillips Names Jewelry Head for Americas

RAPAPORT... Phillips has appointed Susan Abeles head of jewelry for the
Americas, the auction house said Friday.
Abeles (pictured), who will be based at the company’s New York
headquarters, has been tasked with creating a jewelry team there, as well as
working with clients on consignment projects. She will also take on the role of senior international specialist, and will be in charge of Phillips’
first New York jewelry auction, scheduled for the fall.
“It’s the right time to expand our jewelry department,” said
CEO Edward Dolman. “I am confident that Susan will create an innovative and
contemporary jewelry offering that will appeal to the increasing number of
collectors of art, watches and design.”
Phillips has been developing its jewelry department to
complement its other focus areas as part of a recent expansion.
Abeles was most recently the US director of jewelry at Bonhams, a role she held for eight years.
