Press Release: Indian Delegation to Support World Jewelry Hub Opening

Press Release: A high-level delegation of government and industry officials from India, led by Shri Siddharth, the director general of the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has confirmed its participation in the grand opening of the World Jewelry Hub in Panama City, taking place April 27 to 30. Among the members of the visiting delegation will be Vipul Shah, the chairman of the Gems & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), along with its vice chairman, Panjak Parekh, and the organization's executive director, Sabyasachi Ray, in addition to senior members of management and leading company representatives.

The Indian delegation will join more than 350 members of the Latin American and international diamond, gemstone and jewelry sectors who have already confirmed their attendance for the grand opening. The event is  sold out.

The grand opening will be highlighted by the first Latin American Diamond and Jewelry Week, which will be held in the new headquarters of the Panama Diamond Exchange (PDE), the anchor organization of the World Jewelry Hub.

"We are delighted that so senior a delegation from India will be attending and most definitely see this as underscoring the significance of our new trading center in Panama, not only for the business in Latin America, but for the industry worldwide," said Eli Izhakoff, the chairman of the World Jewelry Hub. "We are confident that Panama will be the bridge connecting the critically important Indian industry to Latin America, and the World Jewelry Hub will serve as the gateway."

Shah added, "We are most excited to be attending the grand opening and to lend our support to a venture that will catapult Latin America into one world's most exciting emerging markets. India, as the world's largest diamond-cutting center and a leading jewelry manufacturer and market, has a vested interest in Panama's success. We will express that through our participation in the event."
