GIA Launches New Digital Report for 0.15-Ct. to 0.29-Ct. White Diamonds

RAPAPORT... The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) began offering a new, digital report for natural, round brilliant-cut diamonds between 0.15 and 0.29 carats on Monday.
The new reports, branded under the name GIA Diamond Focus Report™ will provide information including carat weight, color, clarity and cut grades, as well as polish and symmetry grade with a fluorescence description, similar to all other GIA diamond report services. Laser inscription of the GIA report number is also included. Results will be provided in a Diamond Focus Report available through GIA’s online Report Check.
The report service costs $20 for diamonds between 0.15 and 0.22 carats and $22 USD for diamonds between 0.23 and 0.29 carats. GIA’s laboratories in Bangkok, Carlsbad, Hong Kong, Mumbai, New York and Tokyo all now offer the service. Other locations will offer the report in the future.
“Recent innovations and developments in technology allow us to offer this reduced-fee service for smaller diamonds,” said Tom Moses, executive vice president and chief laboratory and research officer for GIA. “The Diamond Focus Report will help address consumer and industry demand for rigorous and independent examination of smaller diamonds."
The service will only cover diamond on the D-Z color scale, not fancy color diamonds. Additionaly, no printed report will be issued with the new service, in contrast to GIA's other diamond grading report products.
