RAPAPORT... ALROSA,
the world’s largest producer of rough diamonds in terms of carats, “revised”
its sales budget to reflect changes in the diamond market and macroeconomic
factors, it said in a statement after a supervisory meeting last week.
The
Russian miner, which cited the inflation rate and currency exchange rates as
reasons behind its move, kept this year’s production plan unchanged at 38
million carats, according to the statement 19 November.
ALROSA’s
chief engineer Andrey Cherepnov was appointed as a member of the company’s executive
committee, effective June 2015,
the statement added.
