RAPAPORT... Lucapa Diamond Company has recovered three more large diamonds during trial mining at its Lulo alluvial project in Angola.

The company described two of the gems as high-color white type IIa diamonds that weighed 88 carats and 30 carats, respectively. They join the ranks of 10 “special” stones weighing more than 10.8 carats and found in the E46 area at Lulo since trial mining began in March.

Lucapa reported more than 30 percent of the diamonds above 1-carat recovered in the E46 project are type IIa, the highest level of purity in a rough diamond. Commercial production was launched in January in other areas of the Lulo project, recently yielded a 404-carat type IIa diamond billed as the largest diamond recovered in Angola to date.
