RAPAPORT... BlueRock Diamonds will recommence operations at a mine in
South Africa’s Northern Cape province on August 29, after implementing the necessary
adjustments to regain compliance with the Department of Mineral Resources
(DMR).
A DMR visit to the Kareevlei mine on July 6 found operations
were not ”compliant” in two areas: “processing plant procedures and guarding rails
on the plant” and “trackless mobile machinery,” according to a company
statement in July.
“Initially we will be processing 30,000 to 50,000 tonnes of
Kimberlite lying in stockpiles close to our plant,” Adam Waugh,
BlueRock’s chief executive officer, said in a separate statement August 26.
The company is targeting production volumes of more than
20,000 tonnes per month.
