RAPAPORT... The Diamond Trading Company (DTC) extended its three-year supplier of choice (SoC) contracts with sightholders for an extra year, the De Beers sales subsidiary announced. The contracts, which were scheduled to expire on March 31, 2011, have been extended to March 2012, with the new three-year contract period now set to start in April 2012.
“By extending the current ITO [intention to offer] by one year, we are providing both sightholders and nonsightholders with the time they need to focus on recovery,” Varda Shine, the managing director of the DTC, explained. The extensions also apply to DTC Botswana and DTC Namibia.
