Goldsmith and award-winning jewelry designer Donna Distefano has been invited to display her ring “The Love That Moves the Sun and Other Stars” at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The 22-karat gold and diamond ring, topped by a cross that is crafted from pieces of the Gibeon meteorite, will be part of the “Out of This World: Jewelry in the Space Age” exhibition at the Carnegie beginning this month. The exhibition, which was first shown at the Forbes Galleries in New York City, was curated by Elyse Zorn Karlin. Also included are pieces from Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier and Tiffany & Co., as well as other designers of contemporary and vintage jewelry. Distefano held a cocktail party at her atelier in New York City to celebrate the ring’s journey.

Something old becomes something new at Turner & Tatler, the refashioned vintage jewelry line by Cindy Chaplin. Taking elements from jewelry of the Victorian era through the mid-twentieth century, Chaplin creates pieces that are uniquely modern. The designer uses antique and vintage pieces that would no longer be worn and makes them wearable for today’s woman. Cufflinks become earrings, a jabot becomes a ring, men’s pocket watch chains become chic charm bracelets and a diamond belt buckle is reconfigured as an elegant necklace. Each one-of-a-kind piece is crafted by hand in New York City and made for everyday wear. The collection makes its debut at Neiman Marcus locations in San Francisco, St. Louis and Chicago.
Having two grandparents with Alzheimer’s disease moved designer Steven Lagos, of Philadelphia-based LAGOS, to create the sterling silver Signature Caviar collection to support Keep Memory Alive, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the research, management and treatment of memory disorders. It is affiliated with the Cleveland Clinic’s Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. The jewelry in the collection is inspired by the curving lines of the Keep Memory Alive facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, which was designed by architect Frank Gehry. Proceeds from the eight-piece collection will be 100 percent donated to Keep Memory Alive. The collection is available at lagos.com and at the firm’s flagship store, LAGOS, in Philadelphia.
Satya Jewelry, known for its symbolic pieces in sterling silver and colored gemstones, has launched The Satya Fine Collection of 18-karat gold and diamond jewelry. The pieces are intricate and delicate renditions of celestial themes reinterpreted.
