Designer Lines

Portuguese designer Joana Mieiro, who creates gold and diamond jewelry, is bringing her collection Mimata to the New York JA show in July for the first time. Mimata, which translates from Portuguese to English as “little indulgence,” is a word used to describe a piece of chocolate or bite-sized treat. Mieiro is influenced by ancient Roman culture and architecture.
Inspired by ancient Celtic art, Charriol is a blend of classicism and modernity. Creative director Coralie Charriol draws upon the Charriol family passion for beauty, arts and sports to inform her designs. Based on its signature stainless steel cable, the design house has created new pieces with colored gemstone or diamond accents. The Mouni collection is made with colored cables and accented with rose gold for a younger — or young at heart — consumer. There is also a collection of bangles, rings and pendants with a motif of hearts with diamond accents.

A family history in the precious gem trade in India was the stepping-stone for Takat to create red-carpet-worthy jewelry. The company, which is headquartered in Jaipur, has offices in Bangkok, Hong Kong and New York, each with a family member at the helm. Takat has recently added new statement-making creations crafted with sumptuous, high-quality rubies, emeralds, sapphires and diamonds. Some of their pieces have been seen adorning celebrities at Hollywood events.
Tabletops get a shot of glamour from NSR Nina Runsdorf, who introduced tea light candleholders. Each unique piece is created from quartz crystal that is polished to a smooth finish and then adorned with a diamond-embellished silver rim around the well that holds the candle. The flickering light from the candle dances with the sparkle of the diamonds, adding enchantment to any decor.
The JA New York summer show welcomes ten new designers who will be making their debut in the New Designer Gallery. The designers were chosen from many applicants based on their distinctive viewpoint and design acumen. Since 1977, JA New York has been supporting new talent in the industry through the New Designer Gallery. Booth space for these designers is partially underwritten by JA New York. The following are the ten designers highlighted this year: Arya Esha, Laura Jackowski-Dickson/LJD Designs, Jewelry by Cari, Lauren Chisholm, Lisa Kim, Nathalie Regnier, Ruta Reifen, Sofie Cawood, Tracy Arrington and Unhada. One designer will be presented with the Mort Abelson New Designer of the Year Award during a special ceremony on Monday, July 27, in the New Designer Gallery on the show floor.
