The Word — a cube ring with a heart and an infinity symbol rendered in diamonds and gold. All through the year, Alp will be traveling across the U.S. doing trunk shows and telling, “A Story by a Jeweler,” the tale of him giving his word and the inspiration for the design of this collection. The Word collection — which is comprised of the ring, in various metals with or without diamonds, and a bracelet — is a departure from Alp’s previous, more ornate and highly embellished work. “It’s a simple diamond cube and simple is not easy. It is my best work ever. It’s about becoming a mature person.” The ring comes with a special display that creates a magnetic field that makes the ring float in the air.
My life story.

My dream is to be a good father, someone my kids will love. It is my dream that they will think and speak highly of me.
Richie Kotzen is my favorite musician. When I first came to the U.S. from Turkey, I thought he was writing my life in his lyrics. As an artist, our job is to always create something. He keeps doing songs and he tells what is going on through his music, different songs that reflect life at a specific moment in time. I make at least one piece of jewelry a day.
To me, literature is the most important thing — I used to read a lot of poetry. I love movies. “Fences” is my second most favorite movie ever. It was like a Broadway show. It was in five scenes. I loved the acting and the story was very real, about being African-American and about the tolerance of a woman. My favorite movie ever is “Dead Poets Society.” I saw it as a young boy growing up in Turkey and that was my first exposure to literature. It was very poetic to me.
