Rapaport Press Release
First Rapaport Buyer’s Group to India is a Success!

RAPAPORT... Press Release, SHANGHAI: The Rapaport Group is pleased to announce that the first Rapaport Buyers Group – China (RBG-China) “Mission to India” was an overall success and exceeded everyone’s expectations. The RBG-China trip took place from August 4 to 9, 2009, in Mumbai, India.

The buyers group included thirty delegates from twenty of China’s leading retail jewelers and wholesale dealers. All of the buyers were RapNet members, and many of them were visiting India for the first time. The delegates bought millions of goods, and everyone made new contacts and formed new relationships. The delegates are looking forward to next year’s mission to India and have expressed interested in a RBG mission to Las Vegas in the upcoming year. The female buyers were especially pleased that Rapaport was able to provide them with safe travel arrangements and a convenient buying environment.

The buying mission to India was organized by Rapaport China and Rapaport India as part of an overall initiative supporting China’s diamond, gem and jewelry buyers through the establishment of proactive Rapaport Buyers Groups (RBG). RBG members enjoy numerous benefits, including advice and assistance for the international sourcing of diamonds, gems and jewelry. The buying mission to India is an important step in the establishment of a comprehensive sourcing program for RBG members.

“Having the Chinese delegation in India was truly a great experience for both of us. This is truly a great way for bringing the two larger manufacturing and consuming centers for diamonds in the world together. The interest shown by the Chinese delegates towards the diamond manufacturing processes and the desire to forge new suppliers' and business relationships in a proactive way was impressive. This collaborative measure taken up by Rapaport is highly appreciated and truly visionary. This effort should be encouraged. China and India are the future of the diamond trade and consumption, bringing them together in the best [future],” said Arnav Mehta, the director of Blue Star Diamonds, after the Chinese delegates visited the Blue Star factor,

The Rapaport Buyers Group – China's “Mission to India” was sponsored by three leading Indian suppliers: Blue Star Diamonds, Rosy Blue and Shrenuj. The buyers attended the India Diamond and Colourstone Show (IDCS) and the India International Jewelry Show (IIJS), and visited diamond cutting and jewelry factories during their five-day visit to India.
