GJPEC Presents ‘India Pavilion’ at Basel World 2012

Press Release: This spring, the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) will be hosting the India Pavilion at the world’s most coveted watch and jewelry show ''Basel World 2012'' from March 8 to 15, 2012. This high-profile luxurious show attracts more than 100,000 visitors and buyers every year, where the world's most renowned brands display their collections exclusively. GJEPC will host 47 of the top Indian exhibitors at this global platform.

Handpicked by the GJEPC, 47 exhibitors will showcase the best of Indian innovation promoting India as a "design destination" internationally. India's expertise is being showcased at the INDIA PALACE, Booth H40 at Hall 2 which is spread over 140 square meters, in addition to India Pavilion at Hall 6, Hall of Universe. Different regions of India boast of jewelry making techniques unique to them, offering the world an unimaginable variety of styles. At Basel World 2012, GJEPC will work towards strengthening the trade relations amongst key international players and India exhibitors.

“India’s gem and jewelry exports marked an increase of 21 percent in 2011 and the country exports 95 percent of the world’s diamonds, accounting for over 70 percent of the world’s diamond trade by value. With our participation at Basel World, the council aims at increasing the trade intensity towards India and enhancing our leadership position in the design arena,” said Rajiv Jain, chairman of GJEPC. “This year the exhibits that will be showcased will portray high standards of craftsmanship along with unmatched creativity and promote India as being the Ultimate Design Destination.”

Vast lists of exhibitors who are participating this year include some of industry’s best and credible names.

Neeraj Nevatia, managing director of Sun Jewels, one of the exhibitors at Basel World, said, “We expect the fair to be exciting in terms of new products and smart use of materials. Keeping the global economic scenario in mind, it will be interesting to see the trends and range of jewelry on display at Basel this year.”
