Press Release: Jewelers of America (JA), the national trade association for businesses serving the fine jewelry retail marketplace, announces a program to strengthen the political voice of the jewelry industry by expanding its Legislative Action Center (www.jewelers.org/legislative-action) to six state and regional partner association websites. The Action Centers will serve jewelry professionals in nine states in total.

Jewelers of America's Legislative Action Center is the only online legislative advocacy platform of its kind that serves the jewelry industry. The new state-specific Action Centers -- made possible by a generous grant from the JCK Industry Fund -- allow jewelers in each state to take action on the state legislative issues that affect their businesses. Using the online system, jewelry professionals can write their own messages to influential officials or use JA's or the state association's pre-written action alerts and talking points to take action. Each Legislative Action Center also features a zip code search that helps visitors quickly identify and contact their state and federal representatives.

The six state and regional partner associations that joined JA on the project are Intermountain Jewelers Association (Idaho, Nevada and Utah), Missouri Jewelers Association, Nebraska/South Dakota Jewelers Association, New York State Jewelers Association, North Carolina Jewelers Association and Oklahoma Jewelers Association. The grant also enables JA to continue providing state-level alerts through its Legislative Action Center at www.jewelers.org. Through the program, JA and the six state and regional partner associations can share alerts on the state and federal levels.

"As an industry, we need to mobilize our efforts, since policy decisions can impact jewelers at all levels of government," said Matthew A. Runci, JA's president.  "Jewelers in these states now have better access to a powerful grassroots advocacy tool that lets them to reach out directly to their officials."
