RAPAPORT... TimeCrafters Luxury Watch Exhibition will  be open to the public on September 14 and 15 at the Park Avenue Armory in Manhattan.  Several exhibitions will take place within the TimeCrafters show, including the display of iconic pieces from The Blum Collection, an art-inspired exhibit of one of the most complete collections of Swatch watches assembled over many years by Peter Blum and his wife Linda. linea watch

The Sotheby’s Diamonds Collection will present an exhibition of rare, extraordinary diamonds in design-driven settings,  ranging from colorless to yellow, blue and pink. This exhibit, curated exclusively for the TimeCrafters event, serves to highlight the disciplined attention to form and function found in both the art of watchmaking and high-end jewelry.

Baume & Mercier dips into its archives --dating back to 1830-- to pay homage to styles of the past that have inspired today's collections. Attendees will see a stunning silver pocket watch with key-wound mechanical movement from 1915; an art nouveau style women's platinum watch set with diamonds, circa 1925 and a 1940 square watch crafted in 18-karat yellow gold with a leather strap, a timepiece that inspired the now iconic Hampton Collection.

In the women's category, Baume & Mercier will include two  watches from 1950: A cylindrically shaped marquise watch with a hand-wound mechanical movement crafted in 18-karat yellow gold, set with diamonds; and a petite, steel square watch with a hand-wound mechanical movement and white leather strap.  Lastly, the brand's  first Linea watch will be on display, created in gold-plate with a gold bracelet and housing a quartz movement. This watch was the inspiration for the newest Linea Collection (pictured).

The TimeCrafters Luxury Watch Exhibition is organized by Editions Temps International, a European publisher of magazines in the international watch sector, with the goals of educating people on fine watchmaking and showcasing the latest designs from the world’s top watchmakers. Brand executives and representatives will be present throughout the timepiece exhibition to discuss the newest inventions to this centuries-old craft and share technological advancements and behind the-scenes information.
