GIA Provides Update on Synthetics, Treatments in Gaborone

RAPAPORT... Thomas Moses, the senior vice president of the Gemological Institute of America's (GIA) laboratory and research division, will present “An Update on Synthetic and Treated Diamonds: Detection Techniques” to GIA alumni in Gaborone, Botswana on September 24.

His presentation will provide information on the latest developments in treated and synthetic diamonds. This will include high pressure/high temperature (HPHT) and irradiated diamonds, along with new developments in synthetics grown by both HPHT and chemical vapor deposition (CVD) methods.

Moses began his career with GIA in 1977 and oversees all of the organization's laboratory and research operations worldwide.  GIA requested that those interested in attending email Elizabeth Bokaba at  ebokaba-at-gia.edu.
