GJEPC Announces Bi-annual Term Election Results

Press Release: The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) organized its bi-annual election at the Grand Hyatt on the September 27, 2012. The current members of the Diamond Panel Committee -- Bakul Mehta, Vasant Mehta and Kanubhai Shah -- and Vijay Kapoor from the Gold Jewellery Panel, retired to give way to the newly elected team. The candidates contesting the Diamond Reserved category included Mehul Choksi from Gitanjali Gems Ltd. and Ajesh Mehta from Navinchandra Exports Pvt Ltd.  The elected candidate for this category was Ajesh Mehta from Navinchandra Exports Pvt Ltd.

The candidates contesting from the Diamond Panel committee were Saunak Parikh from Mahendra Brothers Exports Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai; Nirav Bhansali from Prism Enterprises Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai; Dineshbhai Navadiya from Tiku Gems, Surat; Sanjeev Agarwal from Gitanjali Exports Corp. Ltd.; Pravinbhai Nanavati from She Jewels, Surat and Shantilal Barmecha from Impex Diamonds, Mumbai.

The winners in this category were Saunak Parikh from Mahendra Brothers Exports and Nirav Bhansali from Prism Enterprises.

Names of the candidates contesting in the Gold Jewelry reserved category included Colin Shah from Kama Schachter Jewellery Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai and Alpeshbhai Vaviya from Amar Jewellers Pvt. Ltd., Surat. The winner elected to the Gold Jewellery panel of Committee of Administration of GJEPC for the year 2012-14 was Colin Shah from Kama Schachter. The new committee and sub-committee formation will take place in early October.

“It is a pleasure to see the selection of four budding young people onto the panel governing the functioning of the GJEPC committee. It is a good sign for the future of the council and the industry,” said Rajiv Jain, GJEPC’s chairman, on the outcome of the elections.

The regional chairman for the various offices are Rajiv Jain from the Jaipur Region, Anil Sankhwal from New Delhi, Princeson Jose from the South, Pankaj Parekh from the East and Chandrakant Sanghavi from Gujarat .
