Japan's Polished Diamond Imports +9% in November

RAPAPORT... Japan’s polished diamond imports rose 9.1 percent year on year to $67.8 million in November, Momozawa reported, citing the country's Finance Ministry. By volume, the imports grew 47 percent to 193,305 carats, while the average price of the goods fell 26 percent to $351 per carat. Polished diamond imports from India grew 18.4 percent year on year to $32.6 million, imports from Belgium decreased 0.5 percent to $11.9 million, while imports from Israel more than doubled to $10.1 million. Polished imports from Hong Kong fell 49 percent to $3 million during the month. During the first 11 months of the year, Japan’s polished imports rose 12 percent to $834.2 million while the volume of imports increased 0.7 percent to 1,901,967 carats.
