Japan's Polished Diamond Imports +9% in November

RAPAPORT... Japan’s polished diamond imports rose 9.1 percent year on year to $67.8 million in November, ‎Momozawa reported, citing the country's Finance Ministry. By volume, the imports grew 47 percent ‎to 193,305 carats, while the average price of the goods fell 26 percent to $351 per ‎carat.

Polished diamond imports from India grew 18.4 percent year on year to $32.6 million, imports from Belgium decreased 0.5 percent to $11.9 million, while imports from Israel more than doubled to $10.1 million. Polished imports from Hong Kong fell 49 percent to $3 million during the month.

During the first 11 months of the year, Japan’s polished imports rose 12 percent to ‎‎$834.2 million while the volume of imports increased 0.7 percent to 1,901,967 carats.
