Press Release: Jewelers of America (JA), the national association for businesses serving the fine jewelry retail marketplace, has updated its Sales and Management Professional Certification program -- opening certification to all eligible jewelry professionals. The JA Sales and Management Professional Certification program validates the talent and proficiency of jewelry industry professionals to national standards.

To launch the updated program, JA will hold on-site Sales and Management Professional Certification exams at The SMART Jewelry Show on April 12, in Chicago, Illinois (10 a.m. to noon and 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.). Jewelry professionals who register early for the certification exams will receive a $10 discount; JA members also receive additional savings.

JA Sales and Management Professional Certifications are recommended for jewelry store managers, assistant managers, owners and sales associates. To become certified, jewelry professionals simply take and pass a written exam at a location of their choice or at authorized JA test sites, such as The SMART Jewelry Show. Exams are available for two levels of skill and cover procedures, terms and concepts that jewelry professionals encounter in their daily work.

"Earning Jewelers of America Professional Certification in sales or management can advance your career, differentiate your store and improve your reputation with fine jewelry customers," said JA's president, David J. Bonaparte. "Now all jewelry professionals can benefit from these nationally recognized credentials."

There is a fundamental difference between a JA Certified Professional and someone who just happens to make or sell jewelry. There are few better ways for a jewelry sales associate or manager to demonstrate their professionalism, experience and trustworthy ethics. In addition to the reputational benefits, jewelry professionals who achieve certification have the marketing opportunity to promote their status to customers and local community.

Visit www.jewelers.org/benefits/education/certification/ for in-depth guides to the JA Professional Certification program, which also includes Bench Professional Certification for bench jewelers.

Those interested in taking the Sales and Management Professional Certification exams at The SMART Jewelry Show should note that space is limited. To register for one or both on-site exams, contact Jewelers of America at 800.223.0673, extension 8007 or 8003.
