Press Release: Embee Diamonds, in partnership with Calgary-based African Diamonds for Development (ADFD) is proud to announce the arrival of the Congo Star range of mine-to-market diamonds. The ADFD executive team and investors have traveled to Prince Albert, from British Columbia, Alberta and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to celebrate the arrival of the first shipment of rough from the DRC and to launch this unique Western Canadian partnership between ADFD and Embee Diamonds.

Embee was chosen by ADFD for several major reasons, one of which being, their premier diamond shapes and precision cutting abilities. Embee Diamonds has agreed to license the use one of their new diamond shapes for all the ADFD diamonds and marketed it under the “Congo Star” banner, which will further complement the existing range of Sirius Star® the world’s brightest diamond.

This range of diamonds like the rest of Embee Diamonds’ proprietary shapes will offer superior light performance over traditional shapes and the added provenance of responsibly-mined and ethically sourced.

“We are proud of what we have accomplished thus far and are thrilled to be part of changing the lives of millions of people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, through our numerous development programs,” said ADFD's CEO, David Schaffer.

It’s about developing communities. Twenty-percent of gross profits from the North American corporation are returned to the very communities where resources were exported from via the ADFD Development Fund. The ADFD Development Fund would be used to deliver back humanitarian support and services such as infrastructure, housing, social assistance, health services, brick manufacturing plants, water treatment facilities, solar power and ultimately the establishment of DRC agricultural training and production of agricultural products and aquaculture projects.

Schaffer said,  “The Congo Star will be worn with pride, helping eliminate any stigma from historic practices in the African diamond industry.”

Evert P. Botha, the CEO of Embee Diamonds, said, “Over the year we’ve been exploring additional diamond lines that could complement our existing Sirius Star range of 100 percent Pure Canadian Diamonds. The Congo Star diamonds will be made right here in Canada by our team of diamond cutters.”
