Ravenel's Hong Kong Auction Highlights Pink Diamonds, Whimsical Designs

The Ravenel International Art Group will hold its fine jewels and jadeite sale at the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong on May 26 at 2:30 p.m., with one lot featuring a pair of rare Argyle pink diamond rings from the Glajz Collection that has a presale estimate of $410,000 to $540,000. Ravenel will offer 80 lots of jewelry, including colored gems and some whimsical designs, and it anticipates a sale total of approximately $7 million (HKD 54 million).

Benjamin Chen, the president of Ravenel’s jewelry department, said,  “Colored diamonds are avidly sought-after by collectors thanks to their enticing charm and rarity. Amongst them are a diamond ring in the style of a rabbit, a pink diamond and South Sea cultured pearl kangaroo, a pink diamond and diamond mask pendant/ brooch, as well as others such as butterflies, goldfish, octopus and different floral styles. I am positive that collectors will definitely take pleasure in this spring selection that we have most thoughtfully compiled for them.”

The auction house is offering a 5.73-carat, internally flawless, fancy light pink diamond ring, flanked by 2.01 and 2.02 carat, E, VS2 emerald-cut diamonds with a presale estimate of $1.03 million to $1.22 million. Ravenel also highlighted an 18.76-carat, unheated Burmese blue sapphire and diamond ring with a presale estimate of $335,000 to $438,000.

kangarooLeading the  jadeite offerings is a pair of Burmese cabochon jadeite and diamond earrings (presale estimate $902,000 to $1.1 million) and a ring (presale estimate of $708,000 to $837,000), each set with an oval jadeite cabochon. The paired earrings emanate extremely brilliant emerald green color and are of very high translucency, according to Ravenel.

One set of jewelry up for auction celebrates the whimsical nature of springtime with such pieces as a pink diamond and South Sea cultured pearl kangaroo that is studded with pink diamonds and emerald eyes, a pink diamond pendant / brooch mask reminiscent of the Carnevale di Venezia  and a diamond “Rabbit” ring mounted in 18-karat white gold.

Other items up for sale include a 5.44-carat oval-shaped fancy intense yellow diamond  ring, a 10.44-carat Colombian emerald and diamond ring, an 8.22-carat Burmese star ruby and diamond ring and an 8.21-carat, Paraíba tourmaline and diamond ring.
