RAPAPORT... The World Diamond Council (WDC)  appointed Avi Paz  its interim president to replace Eli Izhakoff until the next WDC elections. Izhakoff will officially step down from the role on June 30, 2013 after 13 years in the position.

“I will be handing over the office to an experienced and dedicated diamond industry public servant,” Izhakoff said in his address to the WDC meeting held in Tel Aviv on Monday. “Avi was a multi-term president of both the Israel Diamond Exchange and the World Federation of Diamond Bourses, and he has served for many years on the WDC board of directors. I look forward to a smooth transition.”

Paz will serve out the remainder of Izhakoff’s term in office. WDC spokespersons said the elections will likely be held at the organization’s annual meeting in 2014, although no formal date has been set.
