Press Release: The Israeli diamond industry will have a national pavilion for the first time this year at Jewellery Shanghai 2013, opening on May 10. The Israel Diamond Pavilion will include 13 of Israel’s leading diamond exporters as well as an information booth by the Israel Diamond Institute (IDI) Group of Companies, which is organizing the pavilion. This is the first Israeli national pavilion at a show on the Chinese mainland.

The Shanghai trade show has established itself as a key venue for Chinese and foreign companies seeking to expand activities throughout the Chinese and Asian markets. Shanghai is China’s largest distribution center for jewelry and has a thriving local jewelry retail sector.

IDI recognized the strategic importance of this show early on and has maintained an image booth at the show for the past five years. Due to the Chinese market’s mounting importance for the diamond and jewelry industry, IDI decided to establish a national pavilion at the show this year.

The Israeli companies exhibiting are: Ajami Diamonds, Asi Abir Diamonds, Avi Paz Group, D.M.G. International Ltd., DN Diamonds, Eliyahu Yona Diamonds, I.C.S. Diamonds, Moti Israeli Diamonds, Niru Diamonds, Reddiam, S. Juwal Diamonds, Shlomo Bichachi Diamonds and Y. Dvash.

IDI will have an image booth in the pavilion to provide information about the Israeli industry and to register buyers for the Israeli diamond portal website.

An online mini-site enables buyers to visit the pavilion virtually before the show. The mini-site includes contact details of all Israeli exhibitors, including those not participating in the pavilion, as well as a map indicating their location at the show.
Asia is Israel’s second largest market for polished diamonds, representing over 35 percent of total polished diamond exports and these figures are growing steadily. Israel supplies polished diamonds to Hong Kong, China, India, Thailand, Singapore and Japan.

IDI's chairman, Moti Ganz, said, “The Israeli diamond industry is very interested in expanding our trade with this enormous and rapidly developing market. There has been a marked upturn in interest in diamonds and diamond jewelry in China and Israeli diamonds have been eagerly sought after. By exhibiting in China we are demonstrating our belief in the Chinese economy and showing that we have taken a strategic decision to intensify our efforts in this market.”

IDI's managing director, Eli Avidar, said that there was great interest by Israeli companies at this show. He stressed that participation in the Shanghai show is part of IDI’s ongoing marketing efforts in the Asian region. IDI also organizes Israel Diamond Pavilions in three major trade shows in Hong Kong and three in Mumbai.
