Canadian Jewellers Assoc. Appoints Tecimer as Chairman

The Canadian Jewellers Association (CJA) appointed Yakup Tecimer as its new chairman of the board for the 2013 to 2014 term.  Tecimer is the director of operations at Tecimer Jewellery Limited, a fine gold and silver jewelry wholesale business in Toronto and he has most recently served as chair of CJA's investment and audit committee.   tecimer

Tecimer, pictured, is a fourth-generation jeweler who shares his family's heritage in the industry dating back to 1890. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto. Prior to opening the Toronto-based business in 1976, the Tecimer family established itself  within the manufacturing, retail and wholesale sectors of the jewelry industry in both Canada and Europe.

Tecimer is on the jewelers advisory council to Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company, a supporter of Jewellers Vigilance Canada, a member of the 24 Karat Club and the Armenian Jewellers Association and a supplier to the Canadian Jewellery Group and the DiGem Group.

The CJA's board of directors for this term include its past chairman,  Kim Markwart of Markwart Jewellers; first vice chairman,  Tanya Parrish of Canadian Gem; second vice chairman, Darren Dubrovsky of Empress; treasurer,  Geoffrey Beattie of Barclay’s Fine Custom Jewellers; David Ritter, CJA's president and CEO; Troy Calder of Charm Jewelry Ltd.;  Mo Charania of Jubilee Fine Jewellers; Stephen Cole of Spicer Cole Fine Jewellers; Sonja Sanders of Jewellery by Sanders Inc.;  Umesh Shah of Vandan Associates Inc. and Albert Wizman of Wizman Gems Int’l Ltd.
