RAPAPORT... MiaDonna, which offers man-made and simulated ''Hybirds'' gemstones and recycled gold in its jewelry collections, has partnered with  Gemesis  to offer high-quality, type IIa colorless and fancy color lab-grown diamonds to consumers.

Through this joint effort, MiaDonna has expanded its range of lab-grown diamonds in various sizes, shapes and colors and will market all products as eco-friendly jewelry, using the finest grade recycled gold, platinum and palladium. A portion of the proceeds from each sale will be passed onto The Greener Diamond Foundation, which MiaDonna said reinvests in rebuilding communities suffering from unethical harvesting and trading of mined diamonds.

MiaDonna added that the Gemesis partnership means its ''lab-grown diamonds are origin guaranteed and fully disclosed as lab grown. This also reinforces MiaDonna’s dedication to operate at the highest level of safety standards and embrace fair, humane and ethical labor practices.''

Anna-Mieke Anderson, the CEO of MiaDonna, said, “We can now make diamonds in a modern-day lab environment that are as beautiful and more affordable than earth-mined diamonds. We wanted to raise the ethical bar and help reinvigorate our love affair with diamonds without the guilt about where they come from and how they are sourced.”

Gemesis provided a statement saying that its management "feels that massive diamond mining operations are not in pace with increasing consumer consciousness, we are proud to be partnering with MiaDonna, a company at the forefront of this environmental movement with proven green business practices. Together we are providing consumers with high-quality lab-grown diamonds that result in a smaller carbon footprint and very little overall environmental impact compared to mined diamonds.”
