Trans Hex Diamond Tender Achieves $10M

RAPAPORT...Trans Hex reported that its February tender of rough production from its South African operations achieved $9.9 million (ZAR 107.6 million), or an average price of $1,379 per carat from the sale of 7,124 carats. Five diamonds achieved over $10,000 per carat and included a pink diamond recovered at the Baken mine, which sold for $65,000 per carat. In December and January, the company sold 14,557 carats from the company's 33 percent owned Somiluana mine in Angola. That sale achieved $7.2 million or an average $495 per carat.
At the end of January, production at Trans Hex's South African operations amounted to 41,774 carats and included 21,849 carats recovered during the first six months of the financial year, with 19,925 carats recovered during the four-month period from October 2013 to January 2014.
Trans Hex's next sale South African production will take place in March 2014. Somiluana's production is sold at monthly sales. Trans Hex expects to publish its fiscal results in June 2014.
